Oregon - Punch Bowl Falls

Everyone has this shot, right? If you visit Columbia River Gorge you have to see Punch Bowl. I like this shot, but I regret not getting closer to the water level and trying a different composition now. At the time I was a little shy of water due to losing my other camera and lens the 1st day of the trip. I wasn't about to lose my 2nd camera and be left with nothing. So I was playing it safe the rest of the trip. I think the results are still pretty good, but I'd love to have another chance.

For this shot we put on our waders and setup a line of tripods in the river. Since this composition is slightly zoomed in I decided to focus stack to get the maximum sharpness. I don't think stacking was absolutely necessary but I still did it as a good exercise. In fact, most of my shots from this trip used focus stacking and mixing of higher ISO shots to freeze the foliage. I'm not sure the effect is noticeable at screen resolution, but I hope when I print the difference will be apparent.
